We'll we've been a bit behind with this months Little Laplinks Ocean Animals theme! We're still chugging away on our Alphabugs (which if anyone is following along we've got some pictures up of our
Termite,
JuneBug and
Katydid Crafts they all turned out adorable!) and I'm still wondering if
I'm the only one behind with their 2008-2009 Homeschool planning?
But today we did some more work on Sissy's Killer Whale lapbook. Some of you might remember us trying to get a Killer Whale lapbook put together a while back...she picked the topic of Killer Whales, but other homeschooling stuff just got in the way, and we never ended up finishing it. So when we found out that July's theme for lapbooks would be Ocean Animals, I knew that we'd again tackle the mysterious and elusive Killer Whale, so this is like an extension of it and we hope to have some fun minibooks to share when we're finished too!
Sissy used her
Draw Write Now book to learn how to draw Killer Whales, and she made this beautiful drawing for the cover of her lapbook.

And here she is working on her Killer Whale Migration book

Bubba decided he wanted to do a lapbook on Sharks, so we printed him up some fun resources from
Carisa's Tot Books on Ocean Animals and Nemo. You should have seen his face as he counted all the fun characters in the Nemo counting book, he had a blast (thanks Carisa!)
Here he is working on his Shark Story

This is the story he wrote: (well, the story he dictated, and I wrote)
Once upon a time there was a hammerhead shark and great white shark and a blue shark. Swim in the ocean and there were two monsters. Monster eat them sharks up. That was NOT OKAY!....SPIT EM' OUT! and then swim in the ocean. No monsters, they ate tacos......did they eat tacos?...Um, Yeah, under the hill they eat tacos.
What a sweetheart right? All his stories involve some sort of Monster or bad guy, very indicative of the differences between him and my daughter, and all the more reason to get cracking on those Prince Mission lapbooks. I have a feeling that another one will be coming soon, very soon :)
Stay Tuned for more Whale Watching, we're busy with this one folks!
Blessings,
Valerie
