Lapbook Lessons

Well, we stared our ocean theme for this month. We had fun playing in the water today. Our water day involved playing in the kiddie pool, sprinkler, water guns, and this afternoon when it was to hot to go outside, I filled a bin with water and blue food coloring and added some small sharks. We talked about different kinds of sharks. My oldest likes the hammerhead shark and my youngest likes the great white shark.
I was looking through some old magazines the other day and found an old National Geographic for kids. I forgot I even had it, but it's perfect for what we're studying. It had an article about the movie Finding Nemo, which we watched yesterday. My oldest found it fascinating that the characters we're actually based on real ocean creatures. It tells a few facts about the main characters and also included "10 cool things you didn't know about the sharks". I thought some of the pictures they had looked kind-of scary, but the boys thought they were soooo cool! :) Well, happy fishing!

Sounds like so much fun. I am smack in the middle of planning for the next school year and haven't started our ocean theme yet. How did half of this month go by already? We went to a pet store the other day that had displays with all the "Nemo" fish characters...I guess that is a start lol.
