Lego Lapbook

We finally finished our Lego Lapbook. This one was difficult, finding all the things to put it together. My Middle Man had a lot of fun with it though. You can visit my profile on this site or visit my blog to see pics. Continue

Missing Lapbooking...

I haven't done a lapbook in what seems forever! I'm using the Bob Jones curriculum for my son and I really like it, but it's pretty well planned. It doesn't leave room for extra things like lapbooking or anything like that. I'm already trying to decide what to do about next year. Even though I like the curriculum it seems a bit restrictive. This was my first year, so I wanted a curriculum that I didn't have to plan anything, but next year I wouldn't mind planning a few things to go with the curr… Continue

My Family Lapbook, continued

I've posted a blog before about the beginnings of our 'family' unit. But, since Little Laplinks is doing one on apple/family tree, I thought I'd post again. We've done a couple of projects since a posted last. Last week we interviewed Nana and Papa and daddy's side. Adam (Adam is my oldest) loves telling storied with his Nana, so he will probably make one into a mini-book. Here are some links that I found: http://genealogy.about.com/library/free_charts/Family_Tree.pdf http://www.eduplace.com/ac… Continue

My Family Lapbook

Hello everyone! :) I hope all of you are having a good school year so far. As part of our S.S. unit we will be doing a My Family or Family Tree Lapbook. I'm hoping that Little Laplinks does one for the month of Sept. So, all of you go vote, for the family tree:). Anyway, it will be the main part of the unit, mixed in with community helpers(field trips to fire station, that sort of thing). We started out by looking through family albums today. The boys really enjoyed looking at pictures of thems… Continue

Excalibur Academy

Well it's official. We finally thought of a name for our school. Excalibur Academy. I wanted the name to be something that would reflect our family values and my son wanted a really cool name.:) My sister actually thought of the name, she got excalibur from the story of the sword in the stone(King Arthur). My sons, my oldest especially, love the medieval stories and my oldest is fascinated by the armor of God scriptures. Part of our teaching will certainly be helping our boys learn what it means… Continue

Sharks!

Well, we finally finished our lapbook! It was a simple one this time. We are still adjusting to have a new little one. :) Anyway, my oldest enjoyed this one. We did a lot of research on the internet about sharks and read lots of books. The batteries in my camera went dead, so I can't take any pictures, yet. Maybe next week. Next we want to do one on Space! That should be lots of fun. Happy Lapbooking! Continue

Kindergarten Schedule

I've been looking over the curriculum I have for my son, for kindergarten, and started feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'm not sure what to do as far as Social Studies for him. I'm also trying to come up with some kind of daily schedule. How many days for each subject, how much time spent on each, etc. Anybody have any ideas? Continue

Sharks...

Well, we stared our ocean theme for this month. We had fun playing in the water today. Our water day involved playing in the kiddie pool, sprinkler, water guns, and this afternoon when it was to hot to go outside, I filled a bin with water and blue food coloring and added some small sharks. We talked about different kinds of sharks. My oldest likes the hammerhead shark and my youngest likes the great white shark. I was looking through some old magazines the other day and found an old National Ge… Continue

Bug Lapbook finally done!

Well we finally finished our bug lapbook. The bad news is I accidently deleted the websites I used. But, I will post the pictures under the photos links of this site. We had a lot of fun with this one. We've decided to continue to study bugs throughout the summer. The boys just can't seem to learn enough about bugs. So, on to the next one! My oldest has been wanting to do one on ocean animals and since that's also the Little Laplinks theme, we decided to go with it. He narrowed it down to Sharks… Continue

Bugs, boys, and babies...

Well, we have been working on our bug lapbook for a couple of weeks now. We still are not quite done and probably won't finish it this week. We will have a new baby boy this Monday! We have to be there very early in the morning! We are very excited and are looking forward to family being in town. My oldest still wants to finish his bug lapbook and also wants to do one on ocean animals. We'll see :) Continue

Wordless Lapbook

My oldest son has been asking questions regarding salvation. So, I decided it would be fun to do a Wordless Lapbook with him. We completed it in two days. I put the mini-books together in each color: green, black, red, white, gold, I also decided to add blue(for baptism, his cousin just got baptized). We talked about what each color reminded us of and read a Bible verse to go with each: black, Rom3:23, red, I John1:7, white, Psalm51:7, gold, John14:2, green,II Peter3:18,and blue, Mark1:4. Than m… Continue

Bug Ball

Since the lapbook this month is on bugs, I decided to start it off with a party. We called it a 'Bug Ball'. We went bugging hunting and had a picnic outside. The snack was 'bug bites' (graham crackers in the shape of bugs, I found them at Wal-mart). We talked about different kinds of bugs and decided to do our lapbook on Extreme Bugs. The strongest bug, the fastest bug, etc. We've already discovered the strongest bug is the rhino beetle. My boys are really loving this! Continue

Well, school is officially over, at least for us. We plan on doing a few lapbooks over the summer though. We are going to finish our rodeo lapbook first , then do a wordless lapbook, an ocean one, and maybe the Little Laplinks one on bugs. What we're focusing on right now is preparations for their new baby brother! He will be born June 23rd!! So much to do, so little time. :) I hope to finish our rodeo lapbook this week and post the pictures. I'll have to have my husband help post the pics, I'm… Continue

National Day of Prayer

Tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer. Here is a link about it: http://www.ndptf.org/home/home.html I'm sure we can all think of plenty of things to pray for: Our president, troops, families, the homeless, the sick, the list goes on and on. The people on the top of my list are the lost. People who don't know God as their Savior. I've been through some hard times in my life and I can't imagine what it would have been like to be without my God. Also, the hurting...physically and emotionally. And… Continue
