Insects and Planet Craft

Ok....The Insects Lapbook is up in the video section. Again, my camera only allowed 54 seconds of video time, so I go through it rather quickly, sorry. We used Enchanted Learning a lot with this one, plus the links that Valerie supplied on this site. (Thanks Valerie!) The links we used included: Honey Bee Mini Book and Study Coming next..........Planets and Spac… Continue

Finally....Plants and Seeds Lapbook

Well, I am not liking my new camera....it only holds 57 seconds of movie action. So, the video of the Plants and Seeds Lapbook is very quick; sorry. But the video is up in the video section on this site. We completed this the second half of June, and the first couple weeks of July. And some of the drawings of our bean plants even went in to August....some of our bean plants didn't make it- but then suddenly sprouted a month later....LOL. So here are the links that we used. www.kinderplans.com… Continue

All play and no work.....after awhile of all work and no play

Our official day of homeschooling will be on Monday, September 15. I would like t start sooner, but circumstances just don't allow us too. We have been busy over the summer. We finished our Plants and Seeds Lapbook, completed our Insects Lapbook, started our new Animal Lapbook (this will be ongoing as we learn about a new animal each week), and started our Space Lapbook. All while doing our English lessons. It was a good and productive summer. And, I will no longer be working full time. I will… Continue

Starting Slow

Well, after a lot of time and effort, my IHP and letter of intent to homeschool are IN and ACCEPTED! That had been occupying most of my time, along with working. And, because anything we started before June 17 (AG's last day of first grade) wouldn't count for next year, lapbooking went on hold. So, with my school year starting June 23- we have started up again. We will only have school 2 days a week for the summer. One day will be science- taking adavantage of the insects, stars, planets, plants… Continue

"God Made Me Special" Lapbook

My 6-year-old finished this lapbook a week ago. I decided to have her complete this, because of a lot of things that happened at school. I wanted her to know how much God loves her, and how much her mommy and daddy love her. She had a lot of fun doing it, and it is one of the reasons why we decided to homeschool her next year. We used the book "God's Wisdom For Little Girls" by Elizabeth George. The book goes through characteristics of a Godly woman, based on Proverbs 31. She read aloud the boo… Continue

Answer to Prayer!! Thank you!

Well, after a heart-to-heart talk with my husband, I think he is agreeing to let me homeschool my oldest, who will be entering 2nd grade!! I have found all the teaching material on Ebay- Saxon Math, Abeka Phonics/spelling.reading. Abeka history/geography. Science will be lapbooks- however I did find a science book on the human body- Bible will be intermingled throughout. I still have to figure out all the legal aspects of it- like submitting a proposal to the Distric Superintendent and writing… Continue

Suggestions Please?

Alright.....I need a little help please. We decided to pull my oldest from Private/Christian schooling related to concerns that have developed. We are interviewing the public school next week......but I really feel that I want to homeschool- even if it is only for a year. My husband still isn't interested. I am praying for clarity- like the principal or teachers will be really against our spiritual beliefs? Or completely understanding? What homeschool material does everyone recommend. Or recomm… Continue

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Today we mostly finished "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" Lapbook, based on the book by Eric Carle. We still have the mini-books to finish up, but they have their place in the lapbook. My youngest has enjoyed this one A LOT!!! We have been reading the book, almost continuously. And we happen to have the game also, which is identical to the book, so we have been playing the game as much as we have been reading the book. I mainly wanted her to learn the days of the week, which gave me the idea of ad… Continue

Addition and Subtraction Lapbooks

My oldest daughter completed her subtraction lapbooks yesterday. It was a month-long process, but they are finally completed. She uses them as a reference for her homework when she has difficulty remembering the answer to a problem. They are posted in the lapbook video section. All 3 lapbooks were created from the pages of www.homeschoolshare.com Continue

ABC's, 123's, and All About Me

I have done 3 lapbooks with my 3-year-old daughter. The first one we did was the ABC's. I googled alphabet pictures and these cut-out shapes appeared, same with the cover. I used velcro to attach to the folder. Behind each picture is the letter that corresponds with the pictire. On each end, I made pcokets to hold flashcards that I purchased at the dollar store. The center folders are for handwriting practice. Handwriting sheets courtesy of www.notebookingpages.com
