I need money for college...

If I can ever finish school I am opening a school run like a homeschool with lapbooks and literature, hands on activities and field trips. I think is very important for children to have choices not only what they want to learn but how best to deliver it. This said, I have entered a contest to win money for college. It is real simple, if you like my picture, please vote for it. If you don't, I'm good with that too. The address is

Finished letter S book, pics to follow

Oscar had so much fun making his letter S book. We used sunflower seeds to make a tactile letter. We has seals, sailboats, and spiders, snakes and skunks. He had a great time. We are starting letter "O" later this week. He is choosing a letter at a time. No reason to start him that there is only one way to do something. Shalom....Peace during Sukkot Continue

Prayers...

I usually don't ask for anything for myself, but I am in need of prayer. This last week has been so stressful and unbelievable that I am having a very hard time coping now. I was supposed to be at a camp teaching and I felt like I was in a prisoner of war camp. I was deprived on sleep, food, support and everywhere there were people who needed me. I didn't take care of myself and now I am suffering to the point I feel hopeless and lost. If you could lift me up in prayer, not that right now i feel… Continue

The scare for Henry is over, for now

I am so happy to report that little Henry made it through his brain surgery with flying colors and woke up saying his first word...Mama. He was hungry, but pretty much untouched from the whole experience. The scar on his head is not too bad and as he grows more hair, it will cover it. The doctors said that it was not the typical shunt failure with the typical signs, so it had actually been failing over a long period of time. The scary thing is my SIL just had a feeling something was not right. H… Continue

Pray needed for Little Henry

My little nephew who is 9 months old has a shunt in his head that failed last night. He had surgery this morning and I guess what happened is he grew and moved the shunt. This is the happiest little boy and taking care of him as many hours a week I do, this has been a hard day. They said that the shunt has been failing for some time. They even argued in the ER whether to send him home or not. I am so thankful that one of the regular docs said to check the shunt. So please pray for the little guy… Continue

Letter A...complete

We had so much fun learning about the letter A this week. I made (meaning I printed but did not create) a tree with apples on it with two baskets at the bottom. Each basket was labeled A or a. I laminated the tree, added Velcro dots to the back and made it a sorting activity. Oscar had a blast. he would look at an apple and say "This is a capital A" and would place it were it went. I thought this might take him a few minutes, nope first try he could do it. I was very happy since he thought it wa… Continue

ABC Lapbook ideas inside Notebook

We are officially starting ABC's lapbook next week. I am really not sure what it will look like yet. I have a 3 ring binder and 26 file folders. I am planning to hole punch them and put one letter on each. I have alot of various things from Alpha Bugs to Homeschool Share's ABC notebook to miscellaneous things I have found along the way to add to each letter. One of the things I am going to have Oscar do is decide for himself where each element should go. I don't want him to think dog has to go w… Continue

Making Robins for Robyn...Twins first notebook/lapbook...Daddy

Yesterday Oscar and I made a robin for his mom whose name is Robyn. I used to pattern from http://www.dltk-bible.com/butterflysong/robin.htm. It turned out very cute. I let ocsar do all the taping, he wanted to do this rather than glue. After we wrote mom a letter. He is getting so much better with letters, but I did write a blurb at the bottom verbatim of what he said. We had a great time. I think I have oficially lost my mind, but I am going to start a notebook/lapbook with the twins stuff in… Continue

The Camping Trip...

I just got word that the camping trip was a huge success for Oscar and the twins. I sent the lap book with him and am very anxious to see the finished product. The kids ate s'mores, slept in the new tent, went hiking (to the playground), checked out trees and birds, and played in the puddle left from the rain. Ironic that it never rains in Colorado until we have a week of outdoor activities planned. The twins slept through the night while camping...maybe they should move into a tent.… Continue

Stars, Mobile, and Memory

Oscar had a grand time making a Hey Diddle, Diddle mobile from homeschool share in the Goodnight Moon area. He memorized the nursery rhyme rather quickly and now proudly tells everyone he sees it. We also worked on a night picture where he put glow in the dark stickers on a black page and he wrote his name with white crayon. This is the back of the lapbook.

Daddy Prayers still needed

I saw my daddy today and he just does not look good at all. Please continue to pray for good health, less pain, strength, etc. My mom could also use prayer since she is having a very hard time with him being sick. My parents will be married 50 years in December. I think that mom needs prayer for comfort since she is very concerned if daddy can't work again. Thank you for putting my parents and family in your prayers. Continue

Too Hot to think....

It is so hot that I feel like I am going to melt. The temperature was hovering at 100 degrees today and the kids wanted to play outside in the sandbox. I thought that making and eating ice cream sounded better, but I was out voted. The sky was so blue and not a cloud in the sky. I just wanted to sit in the basement. I finally got the kids and the pretend cow, Frito, in and napping. I was cutting stuff to make a mobile of Hey Diddle, Diddle for tomorrow, but it was just so hot. I wonder if it wou… Continue
