Working on Colonial America

I posted a few more picts of our Colonial America Lapbook.
This time I made the little mini books ahead of time and they filled in the information.
Right now I'm still at a point where I'm just thinking they should write the info.
We haven't really collected enough stickers and cutouts that relate to Colonial America.
I don't know where to find stuff like that in a short time. If I get anything, it is straight from the computer.
I don't really have space to collect other American things for futu… Continue

American History

The kids did the first section of American History lapbook-style today.
It covered Native Americans and Explorers.
If I did it over, I'd use red, white, and blue or some other appropriate colors. It doesn't seem very creative or imaginative. Then again I'm neither. The kids did a good job of looking for info on their own to fill in. I gave more detail about it on my homeschoolblogger Blog.
The basic idea is now down and the kids learned a lot, remembered a lot, especially compared to me reading… Continue

Hello. Here is the address for the Evan-Moor site. http://www.evan-moor.com I think I was mispelling the Moor. Sorry. This is the correct spelling. Anyway, it is the history pockets that you would want to look at. Colonial America is for grades 4-6th. But you can easily tone it down for younger grades. I can't wait to get mine! I hope this helped! Bye for now and let me know how it goes.

I think they did a good job! I'm not very creative myself. That is I can't just think of things off the top of head. But, I think a part of being creative is knowing how to use your resources. Again...good job.

You could do a double lapbook, it would provide more room for all the info. You should post a blog under the forum section on the main page and ask for ideas.

I did one lapbook a few years with a tree and an acorn. It was ok. Then Jasper was in 1st grade and Emmy in preschool. Now, I have my thoughts on doing one this summer to go along with the American History overview that I'm working on with them. The biggest problem I see is the amount of info I have to deal with. Also if at the age the children are now, I'd have to do the planning of where things go and much of the folding. I'm running on info overload as it is. I'm wondering where to start.

Welcome! We've been having a lot of fun lapbooking. So far we've done one on the Armor of God, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Bald Eagles, and most recently, a Roundup Lapbook. Let me know if you have any questions.
