TIME

Having had a sick kid for the last week ( burst eardrums) I am glad for flexibility and TIME. When she could participate in life and school from her bed she did. But when she wasn't up to it- she could rest , sleep and read to her hearts content. No stress about work missed, homework forth coming or the make up work she would need to do. God works best when we allow him to work in our lives on his schedule. HIS TIME. Healing is one of those things God does in hisTIME. The gift of time is preciou… Continue

Thanks so much Amanda. Those search tips will hopefully save me a lot of time. I'll have to check out the BP references too sometime in the future. Enjoy the Spring - it's starting to freeze at night here now.

It sounds like you are a great person to keep in touch with! I am hoping to do the Beatrix Potter etc study next year, after we finish this year out doing Australian history & so my son (now 2) will be a little older & hopefully be able to join in a little too. Do you have any other tips on searching that you can share, or good finds for the BP study? I know a friend here has a gorgeous book, flaps, pockets & all about Beatrix Potter which I hope to borrow when we get to it. How old are your girls? I have Cara 6, James 2, & Hannah 7mths. I love the rockies. Went skiing in Kimberley in '91 & climbed Mt Swansea in 2000. Would love to take the kids there on our next trip. We're hoping to go again next year & stay a few months & believe it or not, my husband & daughter are really looking forward to having a white Christmas! (I've had 2 and I know there really is something special about it). Thanks again for your tips.

Thanks so much for the leads on the great depression! They were really helpful. I've printed off "The Hundred Dresses" lapbook materials & placed the story on hold with our library - (there is one copy in our state!). Finding some true stories recorded on the government website was great too, we'll be reading some of these with Cara. I noticed you are in Alberta. Saskatchewan is my second home! My family now live in Saskatoon & Maidstone. We were there for 3 weeks last year for my brothers wedding, & spent the hottest day on record in Edmonton!! It was a far cry from the Tasmanian winter weather we had left behind. Anyway, I really appreciate your suggestions, Thanks again.

Were you looking for Christian lessons on Love? My sister-in-law found this site http://children.calvarychapel.com/site/curriculum.htm. They have every possible bible story in a small simple unit study. You could probably take a bunch of the questions and make them into templates for a lapbook.

my kids just finished a Hiaku poem, coloring it and laminating it for their lapbooks. They did such a good job I didn't want them to get mis-handled. They also did a "my love map" project. Each child had a large paper heart and titled it as above. They then broke the heart into sections explaining things about themselves. For example: things that scare me(the dark, or shopping and loosing mommy), my favorite place to be (daddy's lap), I feel safe (when I pray), my hero (Jesus)...
I'll try to add the kids work in a bit. We have a parade to go to. Chat later.

Kit Kittredge Lapbook

This is a Kit Kittredge Lapbook based on the Movie that was just released this Fall 2008. Kit Kittredge: An American Girl was based on the American Girl books by Valerie Trip, but I'm not sure how "related" the movie is to the books because we haven't read them yet. The movie was super cute, so we just had to make a lapbook f…
