Hi Penney,
Here is the info:
Homeschool Support Group Meeting - Monday, January 12, 2009, 7:00 PM
Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 Water Street, Edwardsville, Illinois (look for us in the basement). Doors will open at 6:30. Bring a snack to share. No formal childcare is provided. (older kids usually hang out though and watch videos or play games.)

I hope to be there, but our van broke down in early November, and our car before Christmas. My husband got laid off two days before the van broke down, so we have no transportation or money to fix the van...it needs a new transmission among other things. So...if I can find a ride I will be there. The people are nice and the guest speaker is a lady I have known since I was a little girl. She's very encouraging. Let me know if you decide to go.
Blessings,
Natalie

Hi Penney,
Our church is Center Grove Presbyterian in Edwardsville. We love, love, love it there Do you think you will be staying in IL for a while? Have you gotten connected with any of the homeschooling groups? The FOCHE group meets tomorrow night in Edwardsville. The speaker is talking about the Charlotte Mason approach. Send me an email if you want to go and need directions.
Love,
Natalie

I have been homeschooling a while but I'm new to the lapbook thing. I've enjoyed looking at your books and look forward to sharing some of ours soon. We just completed one on Elections and the Election process. Hopefully our Thanksgiving one will be complete b/f we next week.

Penny,
The children have not made any lapbooks but I have told them that we will be placing their materials in them. I would like for all the kids to make a lapbook for nursery rhymes, the plant cycle, the body, mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians. At this time, I am collecting some of their work or their placing them in their own plastic bag.
Thank you for writing back...

Penny,
I almost forgot - Homeschool Share (HSS) is also an excellent resource. Lots of great things there.

Penny,
I found the mini-books for our lapbooks at a couple different places. So far we mix and match different things in our lapbooks instead of just doing all the parts from one source. Lapbook Lessons (here), Christian Preschool Printables and Enchanted Learning are my main sources for now. Enchanted Learning is a subscription site ($20 for a year) but they have a lot of samples to look at so you can decide if you want to subscribe. The wealth of information available there is staggering. I also have looked at the lapbook kits from Hands of a Child - I've got a couple of their freebies, but have not used them yet (the freebies are a little above the preschool level). I hope this helps.
Blessings,

I responded to your post but just in case here's where I got the other resources:
I got the character here: http://www.frontiernet.net/~goofis1/Images/Food/JohnnyAppleseed
And I got the 'real name' flap from A Journey Through Learning's 'The Life and Times of Johnny Appleseed' lapbook and unit study. I purchased it here for only $1.00 http://www.currclick.com/product_info.php?products_id=24733&it=1
It's a great unit pack and well worth the $1.00 :-) It has facts and all the other goodies.

Thank you! I almost lost my mind doing the Johnny Appleseed lapbooks!!! I usually try to include all of the children in every lapbook project but sometimes it is so hard with the different levels. That's one of the main reasons for that one, I just went ahead and purchased the lapbook packs for those. It helped make it a little easier and they were only $1.00 at the time :-) Then I just found extra stuff online.
I wanted to say I have to agree with the post you made in May about Carisa's lapbooks and site. She's got some terrific stuff and very generous of her to share it. I haven't checked it out in awhile, so since you brought it to my memory I'll have to do that!!!
Thanks again, bye for now!

I'm finally adding pics of new lapbooks

I've been adding lots of pictures of my family. I kind of forgot the purpose of this site, sorry! But I finally got everything together and kept my mind on the topic long enough to take pics of our latest lapbooks and actually post them to this site. Phew, it's so hard to keep my mind on one thing for any length of time. I'm so proud of myself.

I'm very proud of my kids, too. The twins made their first lapbooks, and they learned a lot about butterflies. They loved it. They tell me they want to… Continue

We've moved to a picture perfect neighborhood - arghh!

My husband got a new job in Cahokia, Illinois. It pays a lot more!!! Praise the Lord!!! So we moved from Kansas City,so we could all live together again. We found a house we could rent until we find a house we really want to buy. We are still looking for home. Kansas City wasn't it. We don't think this is it, either. At least, not this neighborhood.

The house is wonderful. It has 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. The kids only have to share their room with one person, and they each have a room to call th… Continue

Credit to Carisa

I just wanted to give credit to Carisa for the graphics in our Symbols of Christmas lapbook. I got them from her blog 1+1+1=1. Her lapbooks are so colorful and nice-looking and thorough. I'm so grateful for all of you who share so willingly your ideas and resources.

Thanks, Carisa and all of you creative ones!

I figured out how to change my theme!

All of this stuff is new to me. I get so excited when I figure a new thing out. I still have so much to learn. I've been looking all over the site and seeing what's going on with everybody on the forum. Is Jasmine here?

If you are, come and see me!

Love,
Penney
