About Me:
Hi! My sweet husband and I have homeschooled our three children since birth. We have a10th grade daughter, 8th grade son, and 3rd grade son. The kids love to make lapbooks / notebooks on almost every subject we do. They are the ones who come up with creative ideas to add! I think it helps them retain the information longer when they've created it.

I thank God for allowing us to teach our children, and hope that He blesses each of you in your educational journeys!!

Birds of the Air!

Posted on April 6, 2010 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

My son and I have been working on an online notebook, "Birds of the Air". He is making a lapbook with materials from several sources that I will post pictures of next week. All the free materials and resources we are using, plus his "bird descriptions" that he dictated to me to type on the page are there. I want to make the page a resource guide of free bird learning materials including lapbooks and a variety of study and research… Continue

Happy beginning of a new school year! Isn't it exciting! New books, new materials, so many things to learn and teach!

I hope you have had fun on your break! I really enjoy researching materials for new lessons and have been collecting many. Problem is, I can never find the materials later when I need them! So, in an attempt to organize myself, I've started putting information onto squidoo lenses ~ links, lesson plans, units, worksheets, videos, clipart, book lists, notebook pages,… Continue

With the 4th of July coming soon, I wanted my children to learn about songs of our country. Here is a simple lesson with posters, copywork, puzzles, and lapbook / notebook pages about the Star Spangled Banner. I will let you know when I add the other songs we will be learning.

Hello ~ I've added some lapbook minis and other materials to the "Animal Links" wiki under classification. They were designed for middle school kids, but my young guy is using some of them, too. I will try to add pictures and some other materials within the next week if I can. Pamela

Music Lapbook / Unit Study

Posted on January 2, 2009 at 8:50am 0 Comments

Greetings! Now that Christmas is over, I finally finished loading a unit on my main blog that I wanted to share. My children will still be working on it probably until the end of January.

It is all one unit, but broken into 3 parts. The whole unit could be used for a full semester, or separate sections for a week or so. Since my children range from beginner to an excellent teenage musician, I have activities for quite a… Continue

We live just north of Pittsburgh - the other side of the state (sigh). Thanks for accepting my friend request. Do you attend the PA homeschool conference in Harrisburg? Maybe we could meet there sometime. My first conference will be next spring - I'm SO excited!

I've been so inspired by your projects. How long does it take you to put together materials after you have decided on a topic? I'm new to this and have to re-design a lot of materials to work with both my daughter and special needs son - it seems like it takes so long to plan & design. Maybe I'm just doing it the long/hard way... Thanks so much for sharing your great projects and ideas.

Thanks for the Canada info. Our lapbook is one that will remain "in progress" but came together really well for our group presentation. As for our Great Depression study, I did a basic search on our State library catalog & borrowed every book that came up, then sifted for the ones appropriate to use with Cara (only 6yo). We enjoyed a fictional diary of an 11yo set in 1932,USA. I think it was called "Christmas After All". We've been watching "The Waltons" & still have one of their novels to read. We are also doing a lapbook on "The Hundred Dresses" by Eleanor Estes (which has side topics of Poland & friendship). I will try to let you know specific books next time, but at the moment I've mislaid the list I wrote. Sorry, you know what it's like with sick kids & all.
All the best,
De Arn
