We've just wrapped up our studies on The Oregon Trail, and I've put together a lapbook to go alongside it! The minibooks would be great for any Westward Expansion Theme, Early American, and Pioneer themes as well.

This is a Kit Kittredge Lapbook based on the Movie that was just released this Fall 2008. Kit Kittredge: An American Girl was based on the American Girl books by Valerie Trip, but I'm not sure how "related" the movie is to the books because we haven't read them yet. The movie was super cute, so we just had to make a lapbook f…

I'm working on updating and adding to our Lapbook Template section. These are some fun Bible Verse Pockets you can use for storing children's verse cards with. Just glue the sides and the bottom and keep the memory verse inside
I've just revamped the "Bible Lapbook" page so that you'll be able to see small thumbnails of the minibooks before you print them. I've also added a Bible Lapbook Title Page and a Bible Names minibook.

I purchased time line figures from Home School in the Woods called History Through the Ages--Creation to Christ (found them on ebay for $10). However, you can do a google image search for the character/ time period you want as there are thousands of free images available. Then just save the ones you find onto your computer to resize/print as needed. You could search for free timeline figures as well.
On a few occasions, I have searched/found black & white images/coloring pages for a particular topic (Creation is one that comes to mind but you can do it for anything). However, more than one full page outline won't fit onto a one-file-folder lapbook so here's what I did. I saved them onto my desktop and then printed them out multi-page style (a feature in the properties section of my printer settings) so that there were 4 smaller images per page. Then, we cut them apart, stapled them along the left side and VOILA an instant mini coloring book to be placed into a packet on the inside of the lapbook.
As for mini books, really what works best is whatever style the information will fit into. If you check out homeschoolshare.com you will find links for dozens of booklet templates. They have mini book templates in a variety of sizes/shapes, even some with lines. They also have some that fit very well with MOH. Just type in what you are looking for into the search box (Gilgamesh, King Tut, Jesus, Noah, etc) and it will pop up with all the free lapbooks that pertain to your search. Saves from having to search all over the internet all day!
Hope this helps.
