About Me:
My name is Lisa. I live in Washington State. Have been home schooling for 13 years now that 2008 school year is coming to a close. My oldest graduates next month! Yeah Shawn!! I have 2 daughters too. Christian 16 and my RyLee Kay 11.

In 2002 I went to Vancouver Washington with a few friends and attended a unit study workshop. Jennifer Steward was giving it. I had begun using unit studies in our home school and wanted to "see" how someone else used them. I loved it!

Well I loved it so much I asked her to come to our area and host a workshop! She accepted and and one of my friends helped me organize it.

Now the workshop we went to in Vancouver was cut short and I cant remember why... but the one that I organized was her full workshop and was also the first time I ever saw a lap book, only she called it a flap book. This was in 2002.

I didn’t put to much thought into to it, but remember going to Tobins lab and checking into it. *Ü* We didn’t attempt our first lap book till we used Galloping the globe and after Jennifer graciously came to our area again and held a flap book workshop.

That’s how we began using lap books and flap books! RyLees first one is in the blog section under First lapbook.

This year for Science RyLee used Apologias Astronomy, along with Live and Learns CD that was created for this series. She also used the note booking pages by Jeannie Fulbright and Happy Scribe Astronomy. We kept it all in a large 2 inch binder. Used card stock to place the folds on, and kept the chapters separated by weekly tabs. All her observation sheets and or projects are also stored in this notebook.

Here are a few pictures from earlier this year. As soon as I get this comb bound I will di… Continue

First Lap book ever!

While using Galloping the Globe for my youngest RyLee, we studied about insects in the first chapter, or section in the book. So she chose a few insects to learn about more indepth and we went out on a limb and on our own and we created this Insect lap book. She was 8 or 9.

Oh Lisa, that is a perfect idea!

I purchased mine at LT but I don't think they have them any more. Maybe Cindy could order more. :) I bet she could. I would love some too. :)

I will do that. :)

I think they are great for a wee one that would like to do some lapbooking, but is unable to do as much as an other sibling would be able to do. But for my aged children, I don't see a use for it... Yet, that is. I am sure I'd think up something.

I did take them and cut them in 1/2 and made 1/4 sized lapbooks from 1 lapbook. I so cute! I think I will just use these instead of purchasing more mini file folders. I will have you look at them and tell me what you think. :)

Go to video's above and then click on Small Pocket Video. She has a GOB of video's to watch. I love this! Sure wish something like this was around when we began lapbooking. :)

It is so cute and can be used for a wide variety of things.

LOL! :)

I need to be doing other stuff, but I got distracted over here!

Did you see those neat mini lapbooks? I am planning on using mini file folders for the workshop, but those mini lapbooks are so cute! If I can't find more mini file folders, I may use this idea. :)

Jessica and I just made some file folder pockets (see the video). I did one with her and she did 3 more on her own. She is having a blast making them.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Lisa,
I don't know if you are getting my e-mails. I'd like to arrange to get that book from you. Perhaps you could set it aside for me at the used curriculum fair??? Otherwise e-mail me and let me know when a good time would be for me to pick it up.
Thanks...
