Hi Greta,
I noticed your comment on the chat "I have just discovered lapbooking it looks great but I'm still not sure how it works am I just not looking in the right places"
I wanted to address some of your questions.
This certainly is the right place to look...you will figure it out here for sure! lol
A lapbook can be merely a hands on/interactive place to showcase your child's papers/activites/etc on a single topic.
OR it can be grand, several file folders big.

We each make it what we want it to be. It's an age appropriate funbook that you and your child complete together or your child completes independently.

Generally it is at least one file folder (small ones are half a folder, big ones are 2 or 3 or more folders!) Inside are mini books that open/close, fold/unfold, activities for turning, matching, reading, etc. Sometimes there is a fold out section that contains more booklets or worksheets.

To start, you pick a theme for your lapbook...it can be something your are already studying.

The best thing to do is look at other people's lapbooks. Check out the photos section, the video section. Perhaps download a free lapbook to get you started. Then just jump in and do it.

It won't be perfect the first time you do it...as you go along, you'll discover things you'll want to do differently next time.

Make it fun, if you child hates to write...do cut and glue activities instead. If you child hates to color...print on color paper instead. If you child loves to put stickers on things...get the stickers out. If he/she really likes crafty type things, they're gonna love this!

Blessings to you, and feel free to ask questions in the forum or privately...or leave a comment on a blog!

I can't wait to see how you do!

This is a Kit Kittredge Lapbook based on the Movie that was just released this Fall 2008. The movie was super cute, so we just had to make a lapbook f…
