*Updated* About Me (2009):
My children are now 6,7,9,10,11, and 12. We still enjoy adding lapbooks and other fun stuff into our curriculum. I hope to get a lot more completed this year. I decided to use a full curriculum for 2009-2010, so my prep should be a lot easier, leaving more time for lapbooks, notebooks, lesson folders, etc. Thanks for stopping by my page!
About me when I first signed up on LapbookLessons (2008):
I am new this year (2008) to lapbooking and file folder activities. When I found out about it... we immediately got started on one. My husband and I have 6 children ages 11, 10, 9, 7, 6, and 4. I have been homeschooling from the start, but at the beginning of this year (2008), I came to a realization that I was going about it all wrong. I was behind, and very upset about it. BUT in January I decided I was going to play 'catch up' and do it no matter what. Since discovering lapbooks and unit studies... we have been catching up at a very fast rate! I love it and my children love it! They are learning so much and so am I. I am really glad for the internet and sites like this, or I would have never found all of this out! I believe (from what I have read on the internet) that I use an Eclectic approach with my homeschool. I now use a mix of unit studies, textbooks, worksheets, internet resources, lapbooks, notebooking, and so much more! Currently, I don't have any family or friends that homeschool so groups like this keep me going. I am always open to suggestions and advice. Thanks so much! The sunflower picture is from our garden a few years ago :-) Here's a pic of me :-)

We just completed a fingerprinting lapbook and lessons using "Science Sizzles: Fingerprinting" by Teacher Book Bag and The Heart of a Child. The unit is geared toward grades 3-6, which comes in handy when you have six to teach :-) This unit has lots of information about fingerprints and explains 'Dactyloscopy'. I myself was even able to learn from the lessons provided :-) We studied the different fingerprint patterns, facts about fingerprints, and also

I like the fact that you use an "ecclectic" approach to homeschooling. You can tailor your teaching to your children's specific needs. Good for you! I ran into a bit of trouble doing that in public education, especially when it became so "by the book". I love the freedom you find in homeschooling. It's hard work, but there's such a great reward.
I saw where you used my illustration for Johnny Appleseed as what I call a "double door flap book". I recently used that on two other projects. Fun! What do lapbookers call that method?
Liz Coombs did a great job of putting that Johnny Appleseed lapbook together. I was busy with another project and drooled over her materials. It looked like so much fun. I couldn't wait to make one of my own.
Your lapbooks are sooo adorable!! You have the knack!
I want to thank you for the support you have given me in the past. Your comments are always a real boost. Bless your heart!!

Have a wonderful weekend!
