About Me:
Just started lapbooking this year (2008) and my kids LOVE it! We are a Catholic Homeschooling family with four hsing kids and have been homeschooling for 6 years now in Ohio. We have a nice collection so far. I have found it to be a nice way to do a mini unit study or a whole unit study with the kids taking breaks between Lapbooks. Lapbooking has made our homeschooling experience more fun. Thanks to all of you and your ideas!

Butterfly

This is my daughters absolute favorite lapbook to date. She keeps pulling it out and adding to it. We have even started our own Milkweed garden for the Monarch Butterfly. I actually went out and purchased four Butterfly Bushes for our yard. Most of the materials used for this lapbook were found at www.homeschoolshare.com .

Mother Mary Lapbook

Last Halloween my children dressed as people from the Bible or as Saints. This was the first year we didn't buy the normal costume attire. My six year old decided to dress as the Virgin Mary. She says "Mommy, you know I have two mothers. You and Mary up in the heavens! I am doubly blessed!" When she went trick or treating that evening she blessed everyone who gave her candy ;-) "Oh, Thank you and God Bless!" she would say. Some did not take to her blessing very well, while others were excited to… Continue

The Civil War

My son LOVES the Civil War! My husband is a Retired Marine, living near a military base for many years and seeing tone of pictures of his daddy in camouflage, weapons and all, has peeked his interest in the Military and the history of battles. We made hard tack, went to an re-enactment, read books and watched DVD's. Materials were purchased from Knowledge Box Central for grades 3-8.

Frog Lapbook...Ribit!

My daughter has a LOVE for all animals and I was very surprised when she wanted to dissect a frog. Well.....I do not have the stomach to do that so pictures and a gelatin dissecting kit works for me ;-)

ABC Lapbooks

These are just a few pics from our ABC collection of Lapbooks. My youngest son, 4yrs old, had a great time working on these. We are not even half way through the alphabet and Im not sure we will finish ;-) For the cover I used Little Folks Letter Practice Workbook for Catholic Children which can be purchased from CHC, Catholic Heritage Curricula. I also used the Jumbo Book of Preschool Activities by Teacher Created Materials and www.homeschoolshare.com .

We live north of the Columbus area. It is easy homeschooling here, no troubles for us. How things are handled does somewhat depend on the school district your in, but I can only remember a few problems posted on our local hsing loop. If your thinking about the Columbus area I would recommend Westerville, OH. Its a nice town and A LOT of homeschoolers live there or near by. Actually anywhere north of the city is good, not that there aren't great places all around Columbus but just my opinion ;-) Johnstown is a small town outside all the hustle and bustle. I like the slow life out here in the country ;-)

Hi Angie,
Which county in Ohio do you live in? My husband and I were considering a move to Ohio a couple years back (Columbiana Cty I believe). We didn't move, but I was able to contact a couple other families out there, and was told hsing was dependent upon the county...there were some friendly counties, and not so friendly ones.
We are reconsidering the move, and just thought I get your thoughts.
Blessings & Welcome to LapBook Lessons!
