We actually used THIS book to make the leaf print book actually and it worked really well because you can slip the leaves in between the sheets.

Alphabet Lapbook Instructions:
Hi Everyone :-)

I'm making a UK version ABC lapbook (i.e. things like 'cookies' are 'biscuits' over here, so they come under 'b' not 'c'!) and posting up a bit at a time.

So far A - U are here - keep watching and I hope you enjoy :-) I've uploaded a combined file for each letter first, and then separated files also, so you can pick and choose. Essentially there are 3 or 4 mini-books per letter - needing 2 sides of A4 + a Front Cover (so you'll need 27 pieces of card) which you can then assemble however you choose - ribbon, ring-binder...

There is a seperate COVER PAGE. Make sure you print this FIRSTas the first page of Aa will go on the back of it! I have uploaded it in pdf, so you can fill in the blanks (name and age) by hand, but shout if you want a Word version so that it is editable. If you don't like it be creative and make your own cover page - it's not hard !! :-)

You will also find a SPARE POCKET file (word) which is fully editable.

For each letter there is a page with the capital and the lower case to cut out/colour/paint, together with phonetic graphics. You can cut these out and use them to decorate around the mini-books.

Each of the 'Trace' books (handwriting) has a shortened Bible verse. I have mostly used the jardotty or primer apples font for these (which are a bit like the Getty Dubay style), but occasionally other dotted primary fonts that are not too different, just for variety!

If you find some of the books are a bit big, try printing 2 pages to a sheet if your printer has a setting for it. This will mean they are half the size. However I have purposely done everything big because some children struggle with pencil control if copy work, for example, is too small - and I appreciate also that the opposite can be true!

When I have completed this lapbook, I will upload a full A-Z zip (which will be big) of all the files - but that might be a while yet though!

Look in the 'reply' section and keep going down for the rest of the files! :)

Please read my notes on each section as you go along - there are added extras and bits you might find helpful to know. If anyone has any questions I will answer them if you post me. If anything needs to be added to the lapnote page I will then add it for everyone to read :)

I will post up a picture of each section as we complete it ourselves and as, in reality, I won't know how this all goes together until we have done it! The more detailed pictures will be over in my photo files.

As I have made the lapbook I have found I have had to tweak it here and there (mainly where graphics have come out the wrong way up!). I have updated the files here as I have gone along, but if something doesn't work for you please say so and I will sort it out - also if you would like any of the files in a different format please just ask :)

Have Fun!! Caroline.

Hi, I am VERY new to these Lapbooks but I LOVE them! I'm still very confused on how to assemble these, how long they take to make, does EVERY child make one (or is it completed as a class). I loved your Alphabet Lapbook resources but to be honest I don't know where to put what and how is each letter introduced?!?! It has to be a lengthily on-going project because there are many objectives being introduced and taught (this is what I love about these)!
Anyway, I teach 1st grade in a public school in Texas and I'm looking for an age appropriate "Texas LapBook" for the students to make and displayed during our Open House, which is in March... I've taught 2nd grade for the last 18 years and from what I've heard this is 1st grade's THEME OF THE YEAR! Therefore, I want to be ready with a project that's different and unique. I've seen what 1st grade has made in the past and I’m not very impressed nor do I want to waste my precious teaching time making "crafts" that represent our state of Texas.
I would love some suggestions and help because I'd like to set this going but right now, I'm at a loss as to even where to begin. I just recently ran across this "concept!” I LOVE the idea of these Lapbooks because there are many cross-curricular objectives taught!
Please advise...
Thank You,
Shannon Widney
