Lapbook Lessons

Alright, August is finally here and the weather in Oregon is just starting to show that it's actually Summer! No kidding, we've had clouds and rain way too often this Summer, and it's making me stir crazy!

Our theme for our August Lapbook will be.....SOLAR SYSTEM! How fun right? The internet is chocked full of resources you can use to learn about our Universe, so finding good stuff this month should be really easy. I've listed some of the ones I've found, but I know there is plenty more out there to be discovered!

I also made some fun Planet Fact Cards, and some Solar System Bible Verse Cards, which you can print from the bottom of this post (under Attachments)

How to participate:

Search the web and find your links for free resources (if you have the time)Take a second to visit other participants blogs to make sure you don’t duplicate links Grab our graphic, and post your blog entry with your links Come back here and sign Mr. Linky and add a direct link to your blog post (not a link to you hompage on you blog, but a link to your actual post….permalink works and if you need help doing this, just email me) After your child finishes their lapbook, Edit your original blog entry to add your pictures and such. For example see Melissa’s blog entry she did, she added the finished entry to the bottom of the post. When you do this it keeps it easy for people to find your links and your lapbook, and if you do it this way, I’ll be able to archive your link on my site and send even more traffic your way! Then, since you’ve already added your link to Mr. Linky (the permalink to the same post) all you need to do is post a comment and let us all know that your lapbook is finished! And then, we’ll come scurrying by the truckloads to see what your little one did!

You can find photos of each of the planets to cut out and keep in a pocket. Children can take them out and place them in ABC order, order they are away from the sun, and order them by size.

OK I guess I am a bit confused by your instructions for participating. We don't use the links you posted above? (sorry, visual learner here!) You say to post links on our blog and be sure not to duplicate other links, where do I look for the blogs? Also where is the graphic you said to grab? Sorry I am a first timer in participating in a group like this.

Thanks!

I can not wait to dive in to this lapbook! I'm picturing me and my boys laying flat on our backs staring up at the stars. Maybe we'll even camp-out!

We're jumping in on the fun too! Don't forget to check out the meteor showers this month!

Really? What should we expect?

from my hs group:

COUNTDOWN TO THE PERSEIDS: The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks one week
from today, on Tuesday, August 12th. The best time to look is during the dark
hours before dawn on Tuesday morning when forecasters expect 50 to 100
meteors per hour. Get away from city lights if you can; plan a camping trip!
The
darker the sky, the more meteors you will see.

The source of the Perseids is Comet Swift-Tuttle, which has littered the
August portion of Earth's orbit with space dust. The dusty zone is broad and
Earth is already in its outskirts. As a result, even before the peak on August
12th, you may see some "early Perseids" streaking across the night sky.
Photos of these early arrivals will be featured in the days ahead on
http://Spaceweather.com as part of our full coverage of the Perseid meteor
shower.

I know it has been a very long time since you posted here but we are just starting our solar system lapbooks and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your links. I'm in total awe of the amount of information out there on this or any subject for that matter. Like most moms, I'm too busy and these links and sites take so much of the legwork (adding a lot of ink though! Ha!) out of the equation. I'm a lap-a-holic now!
Thanks again!

Just a note to say how much I appreciate all the work you have put into this site! I'm in awe of the amount of information out there and so much to learn! We are just starting our space lapbooks, and the boys are so excited to do them, that I also started a History lapbook as well. Then of course, I have to do the mini-offices. And my 2 year old will be doing a preschool lapbook! We are just crazy about 'em! Thanks again!
