Lapbook Lessons

Well with 25 votes, the June theme will be Bugs and Bees! So really that means, if it creeps, or crawls, or even flies....it's fair game for this month!

Now, I want to tell you all, that at my house we'll be doing a ABC bug Lapbook / Notebook. This means that we'll be going through the alphabet, and for each letter we're going to learn about a new bug.....26 letters, to fit in a one month period....are we crazy? can it be done? I don't know but we're going to try and you're welcome to come along if you like!

Actually we started a little early to get a head start.....but don't worry that's good for you because I've put up a page where you can go and see what we've done so far!
We've even put a name to our little adventure....AlphaBugs....and it's like 26 lapbooks contained in one big notebook binder. (if that makes sense?)

So I've put all my links (so far) All my printables (so far) and All my favorite books (so far) on that page, and you're more then welcome to follow along with my house this month or do your own Creepy Crawly Adventure....whatever way you go, there's lots of fun to be had! There are so many different ways to go here! Here are some ideas to get you started:

Pick your child's favorite bug
Study a few that they don't know about
Extreeme Bugs (like ones that fair crazy conditions or are really creepy looking!)
Insect Olympics (the smallest, largest, fastest....ect)
Blending Bugs (ones that can blend easily with enviornment)
Musical Bugs
Bugs that Light Up

....I'm sure ya'll will pick some great bugs for your kids to study this month! So when you do your blog post this month, let us know if you have an underlying theme? Are you going to focus on anything in particular?

I can't wait to see what everyone does this month! We're already having a great time with this topic!

Blessings,

Valerie

I am so excited about this theme. We are going to extend this unit study through the summer, because there are just so many great bugs and things to do and learn! The AlphaBugs Lapbook will definitely help us along the way!
I have been collecting tons of resources for the unit and for the lapbook.
Check out my blog to see. Happy Memorial Day!

Valerie!!!!! Thank you!!! What else can a person say. Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful things with us. When I see something that you're doing, I think, "Ok, where can I get the link." My other thought is that our family would have to move in with your family or vice versa to make sure I get a hold of all of your goodies and not miss a thing. Tee hee hee

I am thinking Butterfly. I have my 10 yr old daughter that loves insects of almost (almost) any kind. Her favorite I believe is the butterfly. Also this goes along well with our study of "Exploring Creation with Zoology 1:Flying creatures of the Fifth Day", by Jeannie K. Fulbright. There will be a lot of interesting info in there for us. So while she does that (not mandatory but i think she will want to join), more on her level, we can do the B is for butterfly with my three yr old:) I look forward to doing this. I believe I even have books in our home library for this one...woohoo!

This looks like fun (well, what lapbook isn't lol?) I think we will tackle backyard bugs. With a 3yo, it's easier to understand it if he can see it kwim? We are almost done with our flower lapbook and it's still officially May!...we may just get the bugs done on time, too. I will set aside some time to cruise the internet for links and ideas.

I haven't finished the plan yet, but one of our summer reading books is "Sir Small and the DragonFly" which fits the bug theme. We are starting Summer School on Tuesday ( we are going to stick to the same 3 days a week Cameron was use to in Preschool for Summer HomeSChool)

As soon as I finish creating the activities I will post the .pdf
