I am a newbie when it comes to Notebooking. When I was teaching my children you could have called it the dark ages of home schooling. We did not have homeschool groups, curriculum fairs, computers or the internet and we did not have the assortment of curriculum that is available now. It was not available until I was finishing up with teaching my children. Then there was ACE and 1 other curriculum from california and it was way too expensive. Now I have 2 grandchildren and want to be able to help their mom with thier education. I have made 1 lapbook with my 1st grade children in AWANA (actually we made a cross between a notebook and a lapbook) and I have made 1 or 2 lapbooks with the grandkids.

I am not sure that my daughter was thrilled when the grandkids told her that she had to teach them the boring stuff but grandma made the boring stuff fun when we did lapbooks and notebooks. Mom was not thrilled with that statement. I am looking for anything that has to do with lapbooking. and how to make them enjoyable and educational at the same time.

I know it's summer and now 2010...BUT, I was hoping there were some of you who would like to pick up where this group seems to have dropped off. Maybe we could throw around some ideas for the fall. We are working on Early American Explorers, a variety of musicians for music, and artists for art. Hope to hear from someone!

Hi maralena! My older kids (12 and 14) also prefer to adapt lapbooks to go in a 3-ring binder. They also LOVE digital scrapbooking, which we're finding to be very similar. Have you looked at www.scrapbookmax.com? The affordable software I purchased there is a favorite around here.

I just joined this group and I seem to be a bit lost. :) WHICH IS NOT HARD FOR ME!! What is the current theme? the photography one says it's the topic, but it's also a year old. So is there a current one or am I missing it? I'd love to contribute. As for the colonial one (which is my guess for the current topic) I don't have anything created yet, but I will be starting on that within the year. I could get it started early if someone needs it sooner.

Well, I have homeschooled my son, 14, for two years, and am now trying with my daughter, 10. She is quite a different type of learner, so I thought I would look into lapbooking. She is taking to it wonderfully! So any new ideas are welcome, please :D

Hi! Has anyone created a lapbook at the end of the school year based on that school year. Like a scrapbook style sharing all what they did during the school year? Please share...

Thank you,
Amy

Hello fellow HS's - I have 2 girls , age 8 and 11. We have been lapbooking in some form for 6 years. We end up digging 'deep' on our topics and we have often used a binder format with card stock. We are currently working on the Solar System and the Universe. Each section is about 10-12 pages longs. We are done the sun and mercury and moving at the speed of light to venus. Perfect timing as she is the Godess of Love and it's Valintines. As part of this section I am looking for some Love of God Lapbook ideas for the girls to incorporate into the Venus section. I can't quite fiqure out how to create links but when I do I will share all the material I have found - it's my hobby and I have a huge pile of Sun materials that can be transferred into a lapbook format. Nice to 'see' you all.

Hello,
My boys (11&113) are reading the book of Proverbs and I thought it may be more meaningful if we did a lap book. I am new to lap booking and was wondering if anyone had done a lap book of Proverbs before. I am unsure how to get started because it seems so broad. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Lulu Abbott

Hello this is my first year HOMESCHOOLING and LAPBOOKING. So, this is a whole new world of learning and opportunity. My dd is in 4th grade after doing K-3rd in a public magnet school. At the current moment I'm trying to grasp how to 'start' a lapbook. I see how to do it...but do I do it after or before the teaching has begun? Or build mini's as i go? I suppose it will have to be a trail and error for right now. I'm looking forward tolearning all that I can from you ladies. Thanks.
