Lapbook Lessons

I have a 5th grader, a 6th grader and a 7th grader. It seems like everything I've looked at is for younger kids. Does anyone have older kids that they're doing these with and if so, how?

My 4th grader and 7th grader just finished the year with a subject of their choice. My 10 y/o son chose Gazelles and my 12 y/o chose butterflies. They did an amazing job and enjoyed it very much. My 10 y/o got alot of experience doing research and he was much more thorough than on any other kind of report he has ever done. I had to help him with the flaps and such - he is not the creative one. Now, my 12 y/o was more creative, but she sort of skimped on the research (for her ability), so we went through it a bit more together and I made an outlice of the things I expected her to include. It was a great way for them to guide themselves in their own interest and they really enjoyed it. I will definitey do more!

Hi! :o) My son is 9...almost 10 and we recently finished a Spider lapbook. We got it through Live & Learn press. Now we are working on a Hockey lapbook which we purchased through Hands of a Child. Happy lapbooking. :o)

There is a group here called "Advanced Lapbook Learners". It is for those who want to do this with older students. Ck it out. If you click on the groups tab you will find it. It was started by JoAnn. Also there is a google group called Homeschooling on A Budget that has a lot of free info for all sorts of lapbooks for many age groups. I lapbook with my children who are 3, 10 and 11. Hope this helps:)

Hi. I am new to this too and I have a 10th grader, 9th grader, 6th grader and 1st grader. We will be starting on a lapbook soon. I've looked at others, and it does tend to be geared toward younger children, but I think it is wonderful for older children too. I am planning on starting an Ancient History lapbook, taking the most important events and lapbooking them. My oldest children will have reports to do on this and they have to research the information for themselves and present it when completed, I will also have a family reading time about Ancient Civilization. I will give them everything they need as far as templates and supplies. My youngest will actually do the same except for look up the information for themselves. All of the children will be included in the reading outloud of the book I've chosen, but pick out what interest them. I am new at this, but maybe we can both give each other ideas.
